Must Try Harder

Local hero Nino Vacarella blasts his Ferrari 330P4 through a Sicilian village during the 1967 Targa Florio.  Nino was a school teacher in nearby Palermo and established himself as the master of the 45 mile Piccolo Madonie circuit, not least because he used to do two laps each evening after work....  His superhero status weighed heavily upon him though and in in spite of setting fastest practice time in the Scuderia Ferrari 330P4, Vacarrella made a mistake part way through the first lap, crashed and retired on the spot.  Undeterred, he kept coming back for more, and added to his 1965 triumph by winning the race again in both '71 and '75.
