Sounds of the Sixties

GT racing doesn't get much better than this - established Grand Prix stars battling in the latest machinery from Ferrari, Aston Martin and Jaguar around Goodwood in the sunshine.  As Jim Clark smokes away in the John Ogier-entered Aston Martin DB4 GT what's most striking about this image is the variety of liveries of the privately-entered Ferrari 250 GTOs.  Eventual winner, Innes Ireland won the race in the pale green UDT-Laystall sponsored car from Graham Hill's off-white J ohn Coombs GTO and Mike Parkes in the dark blue Equipe Endeavour car.  Prominent among the other cars here are David Piper's BP-green GTO and Roy Savadori's Coombs E Type.  In the background, Morgan, TVR and Sunbeam cars get away from the Le Mans-type grid with the South Downs in the background.
